EDUCATION & LIBRARIES
Our club promotes literacy and education initiatives in secondary schools, and at the college level. Over the years, we have participated in Read Across America, provided science kits to local elementary schools, and fund scholarships to women at the local community college. We have written grants for books for babies and for those in continuing education. In 2022, we created 9 videos for Dr. Seuss Read Across America and invited MWC members and Mebanites to participate. Our registered ‘Little Free Library’ is located at the Mebane Bell Garden on the corner of Fifth and Washington Streets. We also supplied MWC member, Jen Roth, with school supplies for her summer program in Haiti.
In 2019, we hosted Mebane Citizens Academy, a partnership with the City of Mebane to educate local citizens on how things work in our community. We also partnered with Alamance County to create the fun Story Walk at Mebane Arts and Community Center.
